Overtime high blood sugars can cause serious health problems includingheart disease,vision lossandkidney disease.</p>\n<p>Mounjaro works to reduce blood sugar levels by increasing your insulin production and also lowering the amount of sugar your liver makes. It also slows the rate food passes through your body which makes you feel full longer.</p>\n<p>Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) is the first dual GIP/GLP-1 receptor agonist which means it works on the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors and the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors.</p>\n<p>Mounjaro can be used as a single therapy or with other diabetes medicines includingmetformin,sulfonylureasorSGLT2 inhibitors.</p>\n<p>It is not known if this medicine can be used in people who have hadpancreatitis.</p>\n<p>Mounjaro is not for use in people withtype 1 diabetes.</p>\n<p><strong>Is Mounjaro used for weight loss?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mounjaro has also shown to help lose weight in overweight patients. It is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials for weight loss in adults who are overweight, obese or have weight related health issues.
